TOM VANN

Tom Vann has served since 2010 as Director of the Chaplaincy Program and Professor of Christian Ministry, Graduate School of Ministry, Dallas Baptist University. Previously, he served for six years as Associate Professor of Pastoral Ministry and Chaplaincy Liaison, Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.
In 2004 Vann retired from the U.S. Army with the rank of Colonel after serving more than 24 years as a Chaplain in the Colorado Army National Guard, the U.S. Army, and U.S. Army Reserve. From 1969-75 he served as a Chapel Management Specialist in the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Air Force Reserve.
He entered pastoral ministry in 1971 and has been the senior pastor of two full-time churches, mission pastor of two congregations, and interim pastor of eight churches. He currently serves as Pastor of The Villas Fellowship, North Richland Hills, since 2016. He also served as a college administrator and instructor for 13 years.
Vann's education includes a diploma, Washington Bible College; A.B.A., Chowan College; B.S., Mars Hill College; M.A., Denver Seminary; M.Ed., Wayne State University; diploma, U.S. Army Command and General Staff College; M.S.S., U.S. Army War College, Th.M., Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He holds the Ph.D. from the University of South Carolina and the D.Min. from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.
He is endorsed as a Volunteer Chaplain, Texas Crisis Resilience Team, Baptist General Convention of Texas, completing Community Crisis Response Team Training; Disaster Relief Training, Texas Baptist Men; and Critical Incident Stress Management Training, McGuire Air Force Base, NJ.
Vann is originally from North Carolina and has been married to a California woman since 1970 with six married children and nineteen grandchildren. His special interests are keyboard, guitar, genealogical and historical research, travel, and old westerns.
