REV. EDWARD CUMMING

Chaplain

Reverend Edward Stephen Cumming, currently serving as a Chaplain, is proud to be a native Texan, having grown up in the “Greater Oak Cliff” area of Dallas, TX. He has two grown children, James Howard Cumming and Stephanie Marie Cumming, both currently living out of state. (No grand-children yet – but still hoping!)

Rev. Cumming holds a Bachelor of Arts and Sciences in Christian Ministry/Church Music from Dallas Baptist University in Dallas, TX. He is pursuing a Master of Arts in Christian Ministry/Chaplaincy Studies at Dallas Baptist University. He is currently a Commissioned (licensed) Minister in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) where he is pursing ordination upon completion of his master’s studies. He also currently serves as the Minister of Music and Worship at the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Waxahachie, TX, where he is in his seventh year of service there. Rev. Cumming is a classically trained musician and has been active in church music for over forty years, serving congregations in Texas, Kansas, Illinois, and Connecticut in various music ministry positions.

Rev. Cumming has extensive experience in social work, having previously worked with the homeless and low-income populations through his work with YMCA Social Services in Houston, TX where he served as a Case Manager. Although he has been involved in church music ministry for many years, his eventual goal is to work in the institutional chaplaincy field, such as that found in hospitals. He also has a keen interest in the field of congregational care and ministry to senior adults.

In his spare time, Rev. Cumming enjoys music (especially jazz), reading, railroads (all types), and aviation photography. He is so excited to be a part of the Interfaith Chaplaincy program at DFW Airport and looks forward to ministering to the spiritual needs of individuals here at the airport.
